Bandai announced Thursday it will bring the Japanese RPG "Eiyuu Densetsu Gagharv Trilogy: Akai Shizuku" to North America. Though some gamers here have gotten to know this title on import as "The Gagharv", Bandai has simplified the name on this side of the Pacific to the more pleasant-sounding The Legend of Heroes instead.

Developed specifically for the PlayStation Portable, The Legend of Heroes is a single-player, turn-based RPG featuring more than 100 characters, 50 hours of gameplay, and a combination of 2D and 3D graphics.

Interestingly, Akai Shizuku is the second part of the Gagharv trilogy in Japan. Bandai's representatives were not yet able to respond to why we're picking up the trilogy at part two (it's actually a five-part "trilogy", but that's a whole other story.) However, the developers made significant fixes and advances for this second PSP entry, so we're getting the better-playing game right away. In any case, we expect players will be able to pick up the storyline easily enough in the North American version. This chapter features a new main character and storyline as you take control of Aveen in his search for his younger sister Aimel.

The Legend of Heroes is slated to ship this September. We'll be back with more details soon.
